This page explains what Stuon collects, what stays local, what is stored for pro accounts, how payments are handled, and what rights users have over their data.
At a glance
Stuon is designed to keep the free product local-first and the pro product minimal in what it stores. Payment details are handled by the payment provider, and the product does not sell user data.
Timer durations, session notes, and logs in the free version are stored locally on your device. No account is required for that flow.
Pro accounts keep email, sessions, notes, goals, and progress data so your study history can be backed up and available across devices.
Stuon does not store raw payment details. Billing is handled by Polar rather than being stored directly by Stuon.
Data is not sold or traded. Information is only shared when needed for payments, legal obligations, or support that the user requests.
Information we collect
Free version
The free version stores study session data such as timer durations, study notes, and session logs in local browser storage.
No names, emails, or account identifiers are required for the free version workflow.
Pro version
The pro version stores account information like your email address, along with study sessions, notes, goals, and progress history.
Payment details are processed by Polar rather than being stored directly by Stuon.
How information is used
Free version usage
Free-version data is used only inside the user’s own browser environment so the app can show timers, history, and study progress locally.
Pro version usage
Pro account data is used to provide cloud backup, sync across devices, analytics views, progress reporting, and support when a user asks for help.

Storage and security
Free version security
- All data remains on the user’s device

- Backups are used to reduce risk of accidental loss

Stuon does not sell or trade personal information. Limited sharing only happens where it is operationally required.

User rights
Free-version users control their data by clearing local browser storage. Pro-version users can view account data, update account information, export supported records, and request deletion.
Retention and deletion
Free-version data remains as long as it exists in browser storage. Pro-version data is retained while an account is active and is removed after account deletion within the stated retention window.
Cookies, updates, and contact
Cookies and tracking
Stuon uses only minimal functionality-related storage and does not use advertising trackers. Local storage is part of how the free version keeps study data on-device.
Policy updates
This policy may change over time. When material updates happen, users should be notified in a reasonable way, and continued use means the updated policy applies.
